As a team, let's reflect on the following
As you walk around the Clementi neighbourhood,
  • What are some of your observations about the environment and people?
  • What were some opportunities you think SST to would able to contribute to the community?
  • How can we benefit from serving the community?
  • Which school value encourages us to learn beyond SST?
Submitting your work:
  • You are going to submit the team reflection to the class blog via email.
  • Your team reflection may include text, image(s) and/or videoclip(s).
  • Give your team a name and put it as the title of the email so that we know who submitted the post.
  • Send the email to loh_kwai_yin1.2010s105@blogger.com
  • Your work will be posted to this class blog.
  • If you upload a video clip, it may take a while for it to be ready for viewing.

1-05 Class reflection

Some of our observations of the Clementi neighborhood are: there are quite a lot of old folks staying there and there is also a lot of litter on the ground specifically cigarette buds on the floor .
2. SST would be able to contribute to the community by holding courses for self improvement and IT skills. SST can also do house visits and arrange for its students to hold activites for the old folks (Zoo trips, Karaoke sessions)
3. Doing these service for the community can add to our CIP hours. It can also help us better contribute to the community.

5 Jan: #3 MacBridge Activity 2 - Getting to know the Neighbourhood

You are going to the following places (checkpoints) in tomorrow's Amazing Race.

  • Blk 437 Opposite Clementi Bus interchange
  • Big Bookshop
  • Swimming Pool
  • SST Permanent Site
  • Clementi Police Divisional HQ
To help you identify the places and plan for your expedition, the teachers have taken photographs of these places, however, they are not labeled. Click HERE to see the photos.
Your Task
  1. You are going to work in teams of 4 to 5.
  2. Each team will attempt to map out at least 4 checkpoints (see below* for more details).
  3. Upon completion, the leader will email the link to the map to loh_kwai_yin1.2010s105@blogger.com. The hyperlink will be posted to this blog.
  4. Put down your team members' names as the title of the mail so that we know who submitted the post.
  5. You may compare the maps by the various teams to agree on the actual location you will be visiting on the next day.
*As a team, you are going to collaborate by each contributing information to a common map.
  • Look at the Photos given and decide what-and-where are these places. There might be more than one photo for each location.
  • The group leader will create a map and share it out with the rest of the members. (You may refer to the "How-to Collaborate in Google Map" guide in the Student blog)
  • On the same map, each member will identify the exact location assigned.
  • He/She will tag the location with the photo(s) and the name of the place.
  • All members must contribute to tagging the map.

5 Jan: #4 MacBridge Activity 2 - Episodes of Induction @ SST

On Week 2 Friday (15 January 2010), the "Badge Ceremony" will be held to mark the end of the Secondary 1 Orientation. Your parents will be invited to attend the ceremony.

Every student is going to put together your 2 weeks of orientation experiences in a presentation (created with KeyNote) to share with your parents your experiences.

Discuss as a class...
  • What would you suggest what areas you could include in the presentation?
  • How are you going to organise your experiences?
  • Is there any specific "visual" requirements/elements that must be included in the presentation (e.g. video clips)?
  • Should the presentation be set to auto-run?

Planning & Designing a KeyNote Presentation

  • Good presentations start with strong ideas, creative writing and a thorough outline (of your ideas).
  • Think First, Design Next, then Present
  • Based your past experiences in creating presentations and blogs, what are some "Dos and Don'ts" that you would suggest to the class when designing a presentation with a good look-and-feel
  • Let's Plan!!!

Group reflection 4 January 2010

1.Collaboration is not bad, but we might want each person in the team to get a chance to speakand elaborate
about their ideas and design of the bridge.
2.We had many ideas but after lots of discussion we managed to make the final decision which everyone was happy about (Although Amrit was not looking very satisfied) .It was all possible because we listened to everyones idea before deciding on the final idea.
3.The group thinks the decoration we used could have been better in quality. The excessive amount of tape may have made the towers a bit too rugged.
4.We managed to finish the bridge way before the deadline and we even managed to use the excess board material to make a cargo ship ( Unfortunately it s not included in the picture:(  ) to better simulate the scenario.

Class 105 Group D [Elijah's group]

The collaboration...
The group feels that it was pretty good and rated the team work 3 and a half with 2 being average and 5 being max we thought that we were on task as everyone was doing their job like mohit helped to take pictures as shown [Pics will be uploaded later]and Elijah the project manager helped to organize the group  and so we finished doing up the bridge and packing with 30 minutes to spare.

What worked well...
As mentioned earlier the teamwork was good and our time management was good and so we did it quick our design was also one of the cleanest as in there was not too many lose pieces and it was mostly one big piece which helped it to be stronger and have less weak points we tested the strength of the bridge and found it to be quite strong we used a full nike water bottle (the squrty one) as the load.

What could have worked better...
We could have worked a bit more on the design so it looks a little nicer.
We could have tried to use our materials more sparingly so that we could have more to design.

What we would do differently in the future...
We would try to spread out the work load a bit better cause Elijah and I worked a little    O.T.

You may present your thoughts using one of the following formats:

  • Image(s) - which should be accompanied with a few lines to describe the drawing

You may explore using various effects when creating your product.

Submitting your work:

  • Attach your product (image(s)/video clip) in a email.
  • Put down your full name as the title of the email so that we know who submitted the post.
  • Send the email to loh_kwai_yin1.2010s105@blogger.com

Macbridge activity 1 (pranavi)

Bridge Building debrief 1(group reflection)- 105.1

The teamwork was good even though there was still some misunderstandings
but still we were able to make the final decision that everyone was happy about.
Everyone discussed and contributed their ideas and played a part in working on
the project.
Our communication with each other could be better so that our collaboration
could improve and we could save time. We should take note of the time.
There was also a lack of decorations.
